Environmental Science and Resource Management

California State University Channel Islands

Who Am I?

I’m an Environmental Science & Resource Management (ESRM) major at California State University Channel Islands, where I study the relationship between people and the natural world. Through this program, I’ve developed skills in ecology, GIS, data analysis, and environmental restoration. I also hold my FAA Part 107 drone certification, which allows me to use drones for aerial mapping and environmental monitoring. My studies fuel my passion for creating sustainable solutions and making a positive impact on local and global ecosystems.

Service Learning

As part of CSU Channel Islands’ Environmental Science & Resource Management (ESRM) program, I joined a service-learning trip to Lahaina, Maui, to support restoration efforts following the devastating 2023 wildfires. Alongside faculty and fellow students, I contributed to environmental research, including whale monitoring, fire impact assessments, and community recovery projects with local NGOs. This experience deepened my understanding of disaster recovery, environmental resilience, and the importance of using science to help communities rebuild sustainably.

Pursued Passions

The ocean and the outdoors have always been my favorite places to learn and explore. Whether I’m diving beneath the surface, casting a line, or setting up camp under the stars, I find inspiration in nature. The ESRM program at CSUCI has allowed me to channel that passion into my studies and research, turning what I love into a meaningful academic pursuit.
